The Environmental Studies Department at Davidson College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Environmental Social Sciences, starting July 1, 2026. We seek candidates whose teaching and research connect social science theories and methods to global environmental challenges.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in the social sciences or an interdisciplinary program, demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education, and show interest in mentoring student research. They will teach the Environmental Social Science gateway course (ENV 202) and upper-level courses aligned with their expertise, ideally incorporating qualitative and quantitative methods (including GIS).
Candidates should be committed to exploring solutions to global environmental challenges and to helping students understand how environmental changes affect human communities at both local and global scales.
