Climate Resilience and Social Inclusion

Job Opportunity

The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) is seeking a qualified consultant to support the integration of climate resilience, gender equality, and social inclusion (GESI) into two key projects: the Water Resilience Tracker (WRT) and Al Murunah+, funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). This consultancy will ensure that research, policy recommendations, and implementation approaches are inclusive, equitable, and responsive to the needs of vulnerable and marginalized communities.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate gender-responsive and socially inclusive indicators into climate and water resilience frameworks.

  • Develop and adapt research tools and methodologies to reflect GESI dimensions.

  • Provide training and technical support to project teams and partners on inclusive approaches.

  • Engage with stakeholders (governments, NGOs, community organizations) to promote inclusive strategies.

  • Design GESI-sensitive monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) frameworks.

  • Produce policy briefs, research outputs, and donor reports highlighting inclusive resilience-building.

  • Document lessons learned, case studies, and success stories.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, Environmental Policy, or related fields.

  • 5–7 years of experience applying GESI frameworks in climate change, water governance, or natural resource management.

  • Proven ability to mainstream GESI in large-scale, donor-funded research or development projects.

  • Experience with international research institutes, NGOs, or multilateral organizations.

  • Excellent analytical, training, communication, and report-writing skills.

  • Experience with index development is a plus.
