Jacinthe Rihan

Dr. Jacinthe Rihan is a Professor of Rural Sociology and Sustainable Development University, Egypt. An accomplished academic and researcher, her work bridges sociology, gender studies, and sustainable development. With over two decades of experience, she has mentored numerous Master’s and Ph.D. students in fields ranging from rural livelihoods to violence against women and community development in universities such as Ain Shams University and Texila American University. Dr. Rihan earned her Ph.D. in Rural Sociology from Ain Shams University, with a thesis focusing on the gender gap in rural Egypt. Her educational background includes a master’s degree in rural sociology and a bachelor’s in rural planning and development. She has held several leadership roles throughout her career, such as Organizational Development Director for the Association for Local & Regional Development and Head of Program Implementation for Plan International Egypt.

Her research has attracted national and international recognition. She is a frequent conference speaker on topics like women’s rights, rural development, and child protection. She has served as an editorial board member and reviewer for various esteemed journals and is actively involved in academic and professional networks, such as the International Advisory Council of the Institute of One World Leadership and the Egyptian Association of Sociology. Dr. Rihan’s scholarly output includes numerous thesis supervisions and publications in leading journals, with contributions addressing gender issues, agricultural development, and rural quality of life.
