Size Scaling of Environmental-Economic Systems

The Faculty of Science at Radboud University invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to contribute to “The Power of Size” project. The researcher will investigate how pollutant emissions, transport, and effects scale with the size of systems such as cities and river basins. Tasks include data collection from diverse sources, development of statistical and mechanistic models, and publication of results in peer-reviewed journals. This position covers Tasks 1.1–1.3 of the project, focusing on theoretical and empirical scaling laws across hydrology, socioeconomics, toxicology, and ecology.

The researcher will collaborate within an interdisciplinary team (WP1), and with researchers from related work packages. Outcomes will inform both fundamental science and risk assessments of over 1,000 substances across species and sites worldwide. Opportunities for skill development and limited teaching (up to 10%) are included.
